Issue 13/08

Tuesday, 3rd July 2007

It unfortunately does not happen every week, but this week it did happen. All full time branches in Europe beat their targets. It was hard going this week with very little footfall in most stores but with persistence, hard work and keeping focused we accomplished it. Give yourselves a pat on the back.

A flyer will be emailed to you to advertise this from Andy Schofield ready for printing in store.

USA - Notes from Andy Schofield

Week 13 had it all – Bomb threats, Power Outages, Torrential Weather and even store closings due to renovations - but through all of that we still managed to pull a good week out of the bag, so WELL DONE everyone. As a team, we managed to hit 94% of target and even though this was only 56% of Last Year’s figure (It was final week of 50% off) it was a strong finish to the quarter.

Made to Measure faired well and came in with 112% against target. The last week of the Two Suit Special went well and the new $500 promotion is expected to do very well also. This is your time to sell the Merchant Books to those customers that want them on sale. Make sure you have sent out the cards I sent you, the letter or email / call your customers to come in and take advantage of this limited time offer. Remember that you can still make 4% commission on the Buckingham Mills book, that’s $35 for a 3pce suit!!

Ready Made didn’t do as well as expected finishing with 86% of target but did do better than last years numbers with an increase of 103%.

Added with the increase against target for MtM and the challenges we saw last week, I think you all did a great job over the weekend. I know it’s a hard time at the moment, but if we can continue to compete as we did last week, we will come through the storm!

Keep the momentum going guys & gals – make sure every customer that comes into the department buys something, and everyone that comes into the store knows about Alexandre London’s current promotions.

Who "Performed" in Week 12??

FORT DIX & HENDERSON HALL – Double barrelled this week. First place honors go to Nicky and Rahim who both managed to do 145% of target this week! Would you believe that these two branches are two of the smallest ones we have on the company, yet they managed to surpass their goals and helped carry some of their larger team-mates this week! – Well done guys.

FORT CARSON – Again in the limelight is Paul, who not only manages to contribute weekly in the “Top Tips” section of Team Talk but who also keeps hitting the top three position with 143% this week…. Must be those tips… Are you trying them?? Good job Paul and thanks for your contributions to the TT and the Team.

FORT MYERRichard made an excellent come back this week with 138% against target and had a cracking week on Ready Made. Richard has done very well this first quarter and is one of the few that is above target – Well done!

FORT BRAGG – Adelle continues to reap the benefits of her last Fashion Show at the exchange. Adelle hit 123% of target this week and also had a good result on her Ready Made stock.

Two other branches exceeded their targets last week. Another one of Paul’s branches, Buckley did 120% last week and Roger, Nathan & Tim at Andrews just passed their targets with 103% and over $6000 in sales.

Well done to all of you for stepping up to the “Hot” plate in week 13.

Another "Top Tip" this week from that guy at Fort Carson!!

Feeling adventurous this weekend?

Based on Tracey's suggestion: Why not try a rolling rack for your ‘mega markdowns’? Roll it to the front of the store if possible and now you have your very own ‘Deals on Wheels’!

Luv-er-ley!

Thanks Paul, another innovative idea from the "Tipster" himself!

Caption Competition

Ok, so trying to lighten the load so to speak, we are having a competition this week for the best caption to the picture below. This picture was taken outside of one the latest fabric mills in Southern Australia where getting the best wool is a matter of urgency for freshness (Only Joking!).

Caption Competition!

Send in your captions to me andyschofield@mindspring.com and the winner gets a bottle.

Good Weeks Trading Everyone... Andy

HOT OFF THE PRESS...

Ready to Wear

The 4th July Ready to Wear sale came at the right time and helped push the weekend sales. The weather was strange but the heavy downpours were not too extreme and did not stop the customers from their weekend shopping which we took full advantage of. I see the sale stock in most branches is getting very thin. This is good, as we will have room for the new ranges when they arrive shortly in to the stores.

Made to Measure

This was the final week of the two-suit sale and we did not do too badly on this sale although I thought we should have done more with the lower price range. Do not forget to put away the left over cloths back in their respective bunches.

The next made to measure promotion is the $500 OFF SALE

The $500 off suit starts now. This is on Merchant cloths and the Buckingham Mills bunch, which as you know are our cloths and therefore 4% commission can be earned on this bunch.

This is actually a 45% saving on these cloths, which can be a little bit more enticing to the customer than the $500. If you want to you can push the sale this way.

Put all the Merchant bunches on display and prominently position the Buckingham mills bunch to catch the customer’s attention. Let us go out and beat targets again this week.

Once again well done and keep up the good work

TIP! Did you do last week’s tip - lets keep it on until Wednesday? The stars and stripes cuff links sets that we have should be put together to make a small July 4th display. This is a good week to push them.

SELL; SELL; SELL

We all need to work together to succeed, good luck and good trading.

John Collins
