Here is a photo from Gary in Lakenheath showing the banner which he has up at the front entrance to the BX in Lakenheath. This has helped Gary - maybe it can help you. I know it can be difficult in some stores to do this sort of thing, but we have to try everything to get the sales in and as Gary said “You work a little harder for the 4% commission”.

Europe - Notes from John Collins

Week 6 was not as strong as week 5 but that was only to be expected after such a terrific week.

Area LY Target Actual % Target % Last YR
Made to Measure $
J. Collins 7,450 8,495 4,705 55.0 63.0
Ready Made $
J. Collins 44,982 43,154 51,210 119.0 114.0
Total Week $
J. Collins 52,432 51,649 55,915 108.00 107.0

It was a very good week overall, finishing at 108% of target and 107% of last year and the ready-made’s saved our bacon. RM sales were once again excellent at 119% of target and 114% of last year which was very good indeed when you consider how nice the weather is at the moment with clear blue sky’s and the mercury hitting around 25 - 28 Celsius so well done to you all.

Made to measure on the other hand was very disappointing especially with the 50% sale running we were only 55% of target and a very sad 63% of last year and we only reached this total with the help of one branch Lakenheath.

Are we doing everything to promote the 50% sale ??

Do you have the big red 50% OFF banner up in your store.

So how did the individual branches do?

  • No 1 Wiesbaden: Geoff Berry and Rob Miller 159% of combined target and 114% of last year fantastic work from the both of you.
  • No 2 Heidelberg: Alan Self 146% of target but only 89% of last year, well done Alan another excellent week on RM’s.
  • No 3 Grafenwoehr: Paul Kerslake 126% of combined targets and 116% of last year well done Paul, all the hard work may be starting to pay off. (Sorry about Chelsea)
  • No 4 Lakenheath: Gary Bloom 124% of combined target and what makes it unbelievable is 295% of last year. Fantastic once more with the highest made to measure sales of $3690. Gary you saved the area from an embarrassment this week as the whole area did only $4705 on made to measure. Come on lads and lasses we cannot rely on Gary every week.
  • No 5 Chievres : John Knight 123% of combined targets and 107% of last year. Very good John keeping Chievres in the lights while Dave is away on holiday thank you.

Let’s see who will be in the top five next week.

I would also like to thank the rest of the stores that are not mentioned as without their hard work and contribution the area would not have made target.

Thank you, good luck, and good trading.

USA - Notes from Andy Schofield

Mother’s Day saw what little business there was in the store; go to the ladies this weekend. Not only did we have to deal with that but the weather didn’t play ball either. Heavy rain and flooding in the Eastern region hurt us too, keeping customers in their homes all weekend.

A couple of branches did manage to hit target however and we’ll see those below. Made to Measure did well this week with 94% of target and 119% of Last Year – A good result guys…. Well done. Ready Made didn’t do as well closing with only 78% but did do very similar to last years numbers with 90%

Overall we finished the week 83% of target and 99% of last years numbers – a carbon copy of 2007 it would seem!

I’m sure that this week will be one of our best however, as the Measure Sale moves into its third, and normally busiest week and it’s a Pay week too!

WEEK 6 - SUPER STARS!

  • FORT BRAGG & MACDILL – Adelle & Zoran pulled out the stops this week and whilst it was Mother’s Day they made sure the Dad’s got a look in too! Finishing the week with 121% of cumulative target these two took the top spot this week without any competition – Well done guys, this was a great result!
  • HENDERSON HALL – Well, it was a great week for sales at Henderson this week, but a sad one as it was Rahim’s last week with us. Going out on a high note, Rahim made sure his customers received a good dose of service before he left – Or he made sure he had some commission coming in June! Closing the week with 117% and almost $10,000 in sales – Excellent result!
  • FORT DIX – A good result this week from Nicky who made it into the top three this week with 109% cumulatively. It was a struggle this week but Nicky pulled it out of the bag by ensuring she hit target by accosting customers at the front of the store! Watch out guys…. She’ll talk you into a suit too!

Other stores which made the grade this week were LANGLEY (Dave) with 105%, FORT MEADE (Trevor) with 104% and NELLIS (Allan) with 103% – Thank you team!!

Good Luck this week everyone - Andy Schofield

GOODBYE TO JAMIE TURNER

Our Store Manager in Bermuda Jamie Turner will be leaving us on 26th May to return to England with his wife Claire and daughter Holly. Jamie has done a great job for us during his service in Bermuda and we would like to thank him for the dedication and determination he has shown to the Overseas division during his time of working on the island. Leaving the store on a high, Jamie achieved record sales last year by moving the store up a grade to band G with total sales of $530,000 - a great achievement considering he spent the three months on the run up to Christmas working on his own.

The Overseas Division’s loss however is the Retail Division’s gain and Jamie has accepted the job of Manager of two of our recently acquired stores within the SRG Group – he will be Manager of Suit’s You and Racing Green in Braintree managing a team of 9 people from the beginning of June.

Jamie you are a sad loss to our division and on behalf of the Overseas Division we wish you and your family well in the future and every success in your new career.

Andy Isaac steps up to Manager as Jamie leaves and again we wish Andy every success in following and beating Jamie’s record sales. Good luck to you both.

GRAHAM RIGBY

It is with much regret that we formally announced the death of Graham Rigby last Monday. Graham had suffered a short illness since January and will be sadly missed by all his friends and colleagues in Goole and Leeds and by the many BMB retail staff whom Graham trained in made-to-measure tailoring. He had worked for the Company since 1962 and in his later years Graham was responsible for training staff to measure within Austin Reed stores and was in charge of maintaining our tailoring services to the Royal Households.

Funeral arrangements have been made and will take place at Rose Hill Crematorium, Cantley near Doncaster at 2pm on Monday 19th May. Graham’s family have requested no flowers but have nominated the Boy Scouts that was close to Graham’s heart to receive any donations. Anyone wishing to contribute should send donations to Sammy Shipley, Human Resources in Goole.
