Week 8: Another good week on both made to measure and ready made with very good increases over last year. Well done to you all, once again we beat target and last year. [John Collins, Europe]

California Fires

USA - Notes from Andy Schofield

Coming off of a bad week in week 7 it was hard to see such low figures again in week 8 but Memorial Day weekend didn’t help sales and (as is the case historically on this holiday) many customers stayed at home or went away Saturday & Sunday.

Many of you reported that your stores were ghost towns and even though gas prices topped the $4.20 mark, shoppers still spent their almighty dollar on their gas tanks!

At writing however, this week does look to be a much stronger week (Thank Goodness I hear you say!) and we will hopefully pull back some of the deficit from the last couple of weeks….. Remember guys, “it aint over till it’s over!”

Made to measure closed the week with a disappointing $11,000 or only 45% of target and 57% against last year.

Ready Made did a little better with 75% but still fell short with 86% against last years numbers.

Overall we finished with 66% against target and 78% of Last Year.

Macy’s too felt the crunch this week in Chicago hitting only 75% of their target after some strong weeks at the beginning of the year.

I’m confident that this trend is at an end and as I mentioned earlier, this week (9) is looking strong already – Don’t give up on the week…. we have a long way to go till week 52 guys.

It is hard and it can be depressing but we’ve been here before and we’ve climbed out of this hole.

Keep at it, keep plugging away and we’ll be on top again – Like these few branches that managed to make their goals last week:

Week 8 - SUPER STARS!

FORT BRAGG – Adelle is “King of the hill” again this week and she won’t let anything or anyone stand in her way to achieving her goals!

Adelle’s attitude is a great one… to sell a suit to every guy that walks up – and she seems to be doing it! She is quickly turning into one of our seasoned sales staff and with 108% and over $5,000 in sales this week – she deserves it!

FORT DIX – Nicky managed to also hit her target this week and also beat her numbers from last year too.

Watching Nicky in action this week it’s easy to see why she constantly makes and exceeds her goals as she doesn’t take “I’m just looking” as an answer!

Her customers love her charm and always has a smile for them.

With sales this week of almost $5,000 I’m smiling and with 105% against target and 125% over last year she’s smiling too…. Chasing that grade “C” all the way to the bank!

FORT MEADE – Just beaten into the third spot this week Trevor did manage to hit 104% of target but a whopping 200% over last years number – that twice what he did last year!

$5,500 in sales, Trevor took it any way he could…. All on RM’s.

I’m with him, I don’t mind how it comes in – Ready’s or MM’s….. as long as it comes in! Well done Trevor.

FORT SAM – Jeff had a great week this week with almost $6,000 in sales and 101% over target and 134% over Last years numbers.

With one sale on MM totaling $2,235 it’s the seeds that he planted over the past month that are coming into fruition now.

This week is looking strong with over $1,400 in one day’s sale Wednesday on RMs and $590 on MM – Go for it Jeff!

"NEW KID ON THE BLOCK"

We have a new starter this week that comes to us from the Quantico MCX.

Kelly Toole was assistant VM at the Marine Corps exchange and has had plenty experience of helping in the Men’s department – and dodging Mark in the Alexandre department!!

Kelly is currently in training with the CDM and officially started on Monday 26th May 2008 as the manager of Henderson Hall.

Mark tells me that “Kelly has the Midas touch” – So, she can either change a muffler really quick, or she turns everything she touches to gold! (Let’s hope it’s the latter!)

Welcome Kelly, to the Alexandre London family. I know you are destined for good things.

Keep it up everyone – Good luck & Good Trading this week.

So how did the individual branches do?

FULL TIME BRANCHES

  • No 1 Lakenheath: Gary Bloom Up one position over last week to take over top spot 164% of combined target and an amazing 179% of last year. Gary once again took in over $5000 in made to measure sales. There is no stopping Gary (Thank goodness) the exchange Rate may be helping Gary in the UK but it still takes a lot of hard work to reel them in.
