Issue 34/08

Monday, 3rd December 2007

We were very near our combined target only missing it by 7% a mere $4,792, however as you can see we missed last year’s figure by a whopping 26%. This was mainly due to the fact that this time last year large numbers of troops were coming home after being away at war for a year, they had lots of money in their pockets and all sorts of Home Coming parties to go to. These high sales carried on through to Christmas so although the targets do take this into consideration we have a lot to do over the next few weeks.

So how did we do this week?

WEEK 34

Not a bad performance from most branches this week, against target 93% and against last year 74%.

Here are the figures for week 34.

AREA L/Y TARGET ACTUAL % TARGET LAST YR %
J. COLLINS 89,191 70,965 66,173 93 74

The top branches this week on combined targets are:

  • Heidelberg 189% of combined trade and 103% of last year. Great week with $11,371 of trade from Alan. Has this put Alan on the top of the table?
  • Ramstein 121% of combined targets but 91% of last year - great effort by Trevor, helped out by Rob with sales of $10,305
  • Lakenheath 120% of combined targets and 91% of last year, sales achieved $8,919 well done to you again Gary.

Worthy mentions go out to the following Managers who did not beat their target but still turned in some very good sales.

  • Melvyn in Mannheim just missed out with 95% of target.
  • Vince Blackett ably assisted by myself on his Italy trip came in with over $4,000 from Aviano, $4,275 from his regular store Stuttgart and the bits and bobs from Vicenza and Garmisch brings his weekly total to just under $9,000. Well don Vince.
  • Leigh and “once again” Rob in Kaiserslautern whilst I was away, did “only” 89% of target but $8,895 in sales so well done to you both. Sometimes percentages do not show the hard work and effort put in but $$$’s do
  • Geoff Heath who was covering for Geoff Berry in Wiesbaden came in with 89% of target with sales of $5,601, which is very good considering that most of the troops in the Wiesbaden area are all down range in Iraq.
  • It was also nice “and a relief” to see Dave in Schweinfurt turning in $4,600 in sales, the troops are now mostly back from Iraq and Dave has reported a lot more footfall being seen in the PX. Keep it up Dave.
  • Disappointing to see was Paul Kerslake in Grafenwoehr 45% of target and 33% of last year and John Knight in Chievres 49% of target, 36% of last year. I am sure this little set back for these two branches will spur them on to make week 35 an even better one than last years.

Who will be on top of the table week 35. Watch this space.

THE COMPETITION IS NOW ON. Who will win the prize? Anybody can win this competition as it is based on percentage increase not on dollar sales in full time branches.

Good luck to all and may the best man / woman win.

We all need to work together to succeed

Thank you, Good Luck and Good Trading.

USA Notes from Andy Schofield

Thanksgiving saw the wind taken out of our sales a little bit last week due to the Exchanges giving steep discounts in their Stereo Departments that we couldn’t compete with. Many customers were enticed into electronics – where they ultimately stayed!

The week saw us finish against target lower than expected with 83% and even though some of you had excellent results it was still less than last years figures at 88%. Ready Made closed out with 85% against target but very close to last years figures with 93%. Measures also missed target with 78% and 75% of last year.

The good news is that our sale is still on and your Exchange has finished with theirs! Now is the time to take advantage of the sale. It’s the last weekend of November and it’s a pay weekend too!

Don’t forget those Accessories when selling the big ticket items – every penny counts!

WEEK 34 - STAR PLAYERS

  • LANGLEY AFB – After a slow disappointing (Worrying!) start, Dave came back strong over the weekend and his cumulative figure was 130% of target! What a difference a day makes – Well done Dave… the hard work paid off.
  • FORT DIX – In-between becoming a Grandma this week (Shhh… don’t tell anyone!) Nicky was just beaten by Langley, even though the branch managed $6000 in sales (Almost a record!) Fort Dix closed with 129% against target cumulatively. That one extra shirt sale would have made all the difference! Still, an excellent result again.
  • FORT MEADE – Glad to see this branch here again! Trevor had to battle power outages on Black Friday and a dead car battery on Saturday morning! Still, he made up the difference and got the branch back on track, finishing with 116% of target.
  • FORT BRAGGAdelle had her share of problems too – losing her voice on Sunday evening! Good job that she managed over $5000 in sales and ended her busy week with 111% and looks to be one of the leaders this year!

Two other branches hit target last week – Fort Sam (105% with over $7000 in sales) & Andrews (100% with over $10,000 in sales).

Well done Gentlemen – a very good achievement this week.

Where was your branch??
